Supreme Recruitment are looking for an experienced Machine Operator to join one of our clients based in Sutton Coldfield. The information below covers the role requirements, expected candidate experience, and accompanying qualifications.
Job Purpose: Setting of machinery and production of wire
Working Hours: Monday to Friday: 7.45am– 4.30pm, Friday: 7.45am – 4.00pm
Pay: £13.44ph - £30,469pa
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Wire drawing
- Wire crimping
- Wire rolling
- Annealing
- Packing

Wire Drawing:
Wire-drawing operator sets up and operates one or more wire-drawing machines to draw round or rod through one or series of dies to reduce its cross-sectional dimension, applying knowledge of the wire drawing machine, the working properties of metal and wire drawing.
Operator studies specifications and determines setup procedures. Positions and secures specified dies in die holders. Operator takes redraw wire from feed reel, tapers end, and threads it through dies before securing the end of the wire onto the drawing block or onto spool which rotates and pulls wire through dies. Operator will weld ends of separate coils together as required to increase their length, using welding equipment. Operator inspects and measures drawn wire to verify conformance to specified shape, size, or electrical resistance, using measuring instruments, for example wire gauges, micrometers, and resistance testers. Operator documents measured parameters on works order cards.
