The predicted salary is between 500 - 1500 Β£ per month.

We need a new safeguarding lead who will be responsible for the ongoing development of safeguarding policies for the charity, providing safeguarding training to charity volunteers and for the process for completing relevant DBS checks for new volunteers.

Your skills and experience will help our charity keep our services users safe and make sure that our volunteers are appropriately checked and trained.

What are we looking for?

  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Great interpersonal skills and ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Good computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook, Atlantic Data DBS application)
  • Highly developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills and ability to communicate at all levels
  • Appropriate adult and child safeguarding qualifications

What will you be doing?

  • Developing relevant adult and child safeguarding policies and reviewing and updating the policies on a regular basis to make sure they remain in line with current legislation
  • Developing safeguarding training and arranging delivery to relevant volunteers in the charity
  • Undertaking DBS checks for relevant volunteers
  • Making referrals
  • Being the point of contact in the charity for volunteers to report safeguarding concerns
  • Listening to staff concerns and acting on them
  • Referring cases to Disclosure and Barring Service where a volunteer has been dismissed due to risk of harm, or causing harm, to an adult
  • Referring cases to police where a crime may have been committed
  • Managing the SH safeguarding email account
  • Managing referrals
  • Monitoring the progress of any cases that have been referred to adult social care
  • Maintaining accurate, secure and detailed safeguarding records of both concerns and referrals
  • Maintaining own knowledge to make sure the charity safeguarding process is in line with current legislation and requirements
  • Providing reports to Trustees and Operations teams as required on safeguarding matters
