Role Description

The Fraud Analyst will strengthen the charity’s day-to-day fraud controls by helping us prevent, detect, and respond to fraud threats. This role focuses on practical, proportionate controls suitable for a growing, volunteer-run charity, and on supporting teams to understand fraud risks and protect donors and partners from fraud attacks through short, clear guidance and training. Hybrid: mainly remote with occasional meetings in person (Ilford IG 6). 1-3 hours per week on average, flexible around your schedule.

  • Champion segregation of key duties to minimise fraud risks.
  • Own and drive fraud detection strategy working closely with other departments.

  • Act as a first contact for fraud incidents or near-misses: triage, contain, coordinate support, and document lessons learned.
  • Create and maintain fraud risk register.

Third-party and Supplier Security

  • Review fraud risks of new third-party tools, platforms, and partners before onboarding.

Fraud training, awareness and culture

  • Create short, practical fraud training and guidance for volunteers and leads (e.g., phishing, vishing, smishing awareness, impersonation scams, CEO scam, and Authorised Push Payment (APP) fraud).
  • Promote a positive fraud culture that is people focused and pragmatic, not policy only.
  • Provide simple periodic updates for leadership on top fraud related risks, incidents, and training progress.

Qualifications

  • Subject matter expert in Fraud controls.
  • Good understanding of the Failure to Prevent Fraud under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023.
