Research & Evidence Coordinator - Volunteer in Aylesbury

Help coordinate SHH-UK's Research & Evidence Programme by organising research papers, supporting volunteer researchers, updating our website and helping publish accessible, evidence-based information that improves the lives of healthcare workers living with Long Covid.

What difference will you make?

Healthcare workers continue to experience some of the highest rates of Long Covid in the UK. At SHH-UK we believe that good policy and good support must be built on good evidence.

By coordinating our Research & Evidence Programme, you'll help ensure that the latest research is organised, translated into plain English and shared with the people who need it most. Your work will support healthcare workers living with Long Covid, strengthen our policy and campaigning work, and help improve understanding of infection prevention, indoor air quality and healthcare worker safety.

Behind every research summary you help publish is someone who may make better-informed decisions about their health, workplace or policy because reliable evidence was made accessible.

Your contribution will directly support SHH-UK's website, newsletters, campaigns and educational resources, helping us remain a trusted source of evidence-based information while developing your own skills in project coordination, digital publishing and working with a national healthcare charity.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and enjoys coordinating projects and keeping things running efficiently.

You don't need to be a researcher or scientist, but you should be interested in evidence-based practice and understand the importance of accurate, well‑organised information.

We're particularly interested in volunteers who have

• Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently as part of a supportive volunteer team.
• A commitment to SHH-UK's mission and evidence-based approach.

Experience with WordPress, website administration, project coordination, content management, volunteer coordination or working in healthcare, higher education or the voluntary sector would be an advantage, but is not essential. We also welcome applicants with experience of newsletters, websites, social media or digital communications.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys organising information, working collaboratively and wants to use their skills to make a meaningful difference to healthcare workers affected by Long Covid.

What will you be doing?

As our Research & Evidence Coordinator, you'll play a central role in ensuring high-quality research is transformed into accessible information that informs healthcare workers, policymakers and the public.

Working closely with our Research Lead and volunteer researchers, you'll help coordinate the journey from identifying research papers through to publication and dissemination. You'll organise research papers, allocate work to volunteer researchers and peer reviewers, monitor progress, and help keep projects on schedule.

You'll also upload approved research summaries and evidence-based resources to our WordPress website, update existing content where required, and help ensure new evidence is shared through our website, newsletter and social media channels.

The role includes maintaining our research records, supporting the recruitment and coordination of research volunteers, organising occasional meetings and action logs, and helping improve the administrative systems that keep the programme running smoothly.

This is primarily a coordination and administration role rather than a research role, making it ideal for someone who enjoys organising projects, managing information and helping others work effectively together. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
