Role: Female Survivor Voice and Activities Coordinator

Based: Eastleigh Covering West Hampshire

Rate: £24,969.60 – £25,614.24

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Permanent 37 hours per week

Our client, a well-respected charity, is looking for a Domestic Abuse Survivor Voice and Activities Co-ordinator who will be responsible for gathering and elevating survivor voices to ensure they are reflected in service planning and delivery and delivering play, activities and personal independence initiatives to women and children living in Refuges and other safe accommodation across multiple sites in Hampshire.

Synopsis of duties:

  • Lead on engagement with survivors to include their views and experiences in the improvement of services and service planning.
  • Develop and deliver structured activities to facilitate the collection of survivors voices.
  • To lead on service user consultation initiatives with survivors in the community and accommodation-based services. This will include face to face events, virtual consultations, surveys, focus groups and one to one interviews.
  • To ensure that the survivor voice is fed back to management and to contribute to survivor voice reports.
  • To work collaboratively with individual women to identify both their own needs, and those of their children/young people.
  • To facilitate the healing process for women, children, and young people, providing a safe, non-judgemental space for them to process their experiences.
  • To ensure that women, children and young people are offered the opportunity to engage in a wide range of varied activities, during the day and after school, either on or off site.
  • To promote, facilitate and encourage, individual empowerment, working to actively reduce isolation.
  • To support parents in identifying what is going well/areas they would like to improve within their parenting, developing co-produced plans to support these goals.
  • To devise and develop targeted activities in response to individual women, child and or family need.
  • To facilitate, encourage and create opportunities to reinforce, trust in self and judgement.
  • To develop, implement, and regularly review, a programme of activities designed to promote healing, reduce harmful behaviours, and encourage positive play.
  • To maintain high standards of note taking and or record keeping, ensuring that entries are factual, unbiased, and comprehensive.
  • To effectively manage and prioritise your own responsibilities, ensuring electronic case management systems are utilised, regularly reviewed and updated.
  • To support with the day-to-day running of refuge accommodation, including housing management tasks and supporting refuge residents and their children.

Essential requirements

  • An understanding and awareness of the needs of women, men and children of all ages who have experienced domestic violence
  • An understanding and knowledge of child protection and safeguarding and the ability to work within national, local and organisational guidelines
  • An understanding of safe working practices while working in client s homes
  • A clean driving licence and car owner.
