We are recruiting for an experienced and proactive Finance Officer on behalf of a well-known domestic abuse charity, on a temporary basis. Working closely with the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial processing of all accounting transactions and supporting the effective financial management of the organisation.
Synopsis of duties:
- Assist in the financial management of all accounting transactions, including annual preparation of accounts and monthly and quarterly management accounts.
- Support the management of supplier contracts and, alongside Heads of Service, contracts for service delivery.
- Maintain and develop financial systems in collaboration with the Finance Team.
- Provide financial data and support to Senior Managers and Team Leaders relating to operational performance, service delivery and fundraising activities, ensuring compliance with fundraising regulations.
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records for all organisational funds, including monitoring incoming and outgoing resources and cashflow.
- Support the accurate monthly allocation of wage costs and other costs, including pensions.
- Understand budgets and assist with budget preparation and amendments where required.
- Assist with basic financial transactions, including petty cash, purchase orders, invoices and income-related finance queries.
- Support colleagues in Business Support and HR by responding to wider queries from staff, members of the public and partner agencies regarding the organisation’s work.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working in a finance or financial administration role.
- Experience preparing or supporting management accounts (monthly and/or quarterly).
- Knowledge of budget monitoring, budget preparation and amendments.
- Experience of cashflow monitoring and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Understanding of fund accounting or restricted/unrestricted funds (particularly within a charity or similar organisation).
