Role: Domestic Abuse Housing Support Worker
Based: Birmingham
Rate of Pay: £14-£18 (dependent on pay status)
Duration: Temp Ongoing (Possibility of an FTE)
Hours: 35 hours/ Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
Hybrid: 4 days in the office and 1 from home
Supporting Futures are recruiting on behalf of an inspirational national charity who have over 50 years’ experience supporting people to rebuild their lives and empowering positive change. They are looking for a Housing Solutions Worker (Domestic Abuse) to provide drop-in housing advice and crisis management support to victims of domestic abuse.
The service plays a key role in supporting the Council to meet its homelessness prevention and relief duties in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 as amended by the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Synopsis of duties:
- Carrying out housing need assessments and identifying housing and support needs and assessing the council’s duty to house.
- Focusing on homeless prevention work and using a range of prevention tools to maximise opportunities to prevent and relieve homelessness.
- Managing a caseload of survivors/families affected by domestic abuse, supporting them to find housing appropriate to their needs and support to access statutory and other community services as necessary.
- Supporting service users who attend drop-in sessions.
- Undertaking initial inquiries into a person’s eligibility and homelessness/threatened with homelessness status and making appropriate referrals.
- Developing, updating and reviewing Personal Housing Plans (PHP) with survivors.

- Experience within the field of housing options, homelessness and/or housing support.
- Working knowledge of domestic abuse would be highly desirable.
