Rate: £18ph

Start Date: Immediately

Duration: Ongoing

Hours: 4 hours per week – Thursday evenings 5pm – 7pm

We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and experienced Sessional Group Work Facilitator to support the delivery of trauma-informed psychosocial support groups for LGBTQ+ young people across the borough of Bexley. These groups are designed to provide a safe, inclusive and non-judgmental environment where young people can build connections, explore experiences, and access emotional and practical support outside of a cis/heteronormative framework.

The programme focuses on:

  • Healthy relationships
  • Self-awareness and emotional wellbeing
  • Peer support and community building
  • Psychoeducation and self-care
  • Safety planning and access to support services

Young people attending the groups do not need to have experienced abuse to participate. The sessions aim to empower attendees with knowledge, confidence, and supportive peer networks.

Delivered fortnightly:

  • LGBTQ+ Support Groups - Ages 16-18
  • Ages 19-24

Delivered weekly:

  • Trans & Non-Binary Support Groups - Ages 13-17
  • Ages 18-25

The Role: You will facilitate engaging and supportive group sessions, helping to foster trust, participation and emotional safety for young attendees. The role includes:

  • 2 hours group facilitation
  • 1 hour preparation
  • 1 hour debrief and reflective practice

About You: We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience facilitating groups with young people
  • Has a strong understanding of LGBTQ+ and/or trans and non-binary communities
  • Can deliver trauma-informed and inclusive support
  • Is confident managing group dynamics and safeguarding concerns
  • Is approachable, empathetic and passionate about supporting young people

Experience within youth work, mental health, advocacy, community services or therapeutic support environments would be highly beneficial. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a meaningful and impactful programme supporting LGBTQ+ young people in the local community.
