About the role:

Join one of the world’s leading independent enterprise software support providers and become the SAP Payroll expert that helps organisations stay compliant with ever-changing UK payroll legislation. We're looking for an experienced SAP Functional Payroll Analyst to join our Tax, Legal & Regulatory (TLR) team. This is a specialist functional role supporting SAP HCM Payroll customers across the UK, with a strong focus on Public Sector Payroll and annual legislative updates. Working alongside talented SAP developers, QA engineers and consultants, you'll analyse legislative changes, design functional solutions, configure SAP Payroll, and ensure customers remain compliant with evolving UK payroll legislation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical SAP knowledge with payroll legislation and customer consultancy.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Act as the subject matter expert for SAP UK Payroll functional requirements, specialising in Public Sector Payroll
  • Analyse annual UK payroll legislation changes and translate them into Agile user stories, functional specifications, and SAP configuration
  • Configure SAP HCM Payroll to deliver legislative updates and customer change requests
  • Work closely with development teams throughout the Agile delivery lifecycle to design and deliver high-quality payroll solutions
  • Work directly with UK customers, understanding complex payroll requirements and providing trusted functional advice
  • Produce clear functional documentation and communicate complex legislative requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Perform functional validation, unit testing and support end-to-end testing to ensure legislative compliance
  • Mentor QA teams on payroll testing approaches, expected outcomes and best practice
  • Provide trusted advice to customers on payroll legislation, SAP Payroll functionality and best practice
  • Support customer projects requiring specialist SAP Payroll functional expertise
  • Support complex Public Sector payroll scenarios including: RTI (Real Time Information), Multiple Employment, Payroll sequencing, Backdated pay awards, Payroll Administration, Legislative compliance
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across our Tax, Legal & Regulatory services, including exploring opportunities to leverage AI and automation.

What we’re looking for:

  • 10+ years' SAP Functional experience
  • Strong SAP HCM Payroll configuration experience
  • Experience supporting SAP ECC Payroll environments
  • Excellent knowledge of UK payroll legislation and annual legislative updates
  • Experience delivering end-to-end payroll processing
  • Experience producing functional specifications and translating legislation into SAP solutions
  • Strong understanding of: RTI (Real Time Information), Payroll sequencing, Payroll administration, Multiple Employment, Public Sector payroll requirements
  • Experience working with Local Government, Education, NHS, or other Public Sector organisations would be highly desirable
  • Excellent analytical, documentation and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex payroll legislation clearly
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams
  • A collaborative mindset with a passion for mentoring colleagues and sharing knowledge.
