Soho Coffee Shops is a specialist coffee business committed to excellence and innovation. We are looking to appoint an experienced, committed and enthusiastic Financial Controller based at our Head Office in Cheltenham.
Key Responsibilities
- This position which reports into the Group FD is responsible for overseeing the accounting activities necessary to produce accurate and timely daily, monthly and annual trading/management accounts and statutory financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP.
- Lead the annual audit process, being the key point of contact for the auditors and ensuring timely completion of the audit with minimum audit adjustments.
- Quarterly VAT return preparation and submission, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements.
- Communicates accounting processes and controls across the company to ensure consistency in application of accounting policies.
- Establishes and implements new accounting policies and processes to meet changing requirements and support new business activities.
- Assess financial risk and develop and implement good internal controls including balance sheet reconciliations.
- Enhance financial controls, policies and governance frameworks.
- Support the preparation of budgets and reforecasts.
- Support the finance team with ad-hoc tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA preferred) with a strong understanding of UK accounting standards, tax, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software NetSuite and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively communicate accounting results to both accounting and non-accounting customers at all levels of the organization.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A dedicated, hard-working and flexible approach.
- Hospitality, retail, or multi-site experience is highly desirable.
