Job Purpose

To support the Kitchen Manager in overseeing all daily kitchen operations, ensuring consistently high standards of food quality, hygiene, and staff management are continuously maintained. At SOHO Coffee, our central production kitchen in Cheltenham is where we make daily a selection of products such as Toasties, Sandwiches, Salads and Muffins, to send out to our stores. This role is a pivotal support role to the Kitchen Manager, in delivering consistently great standards every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily kitchen duties, including product and ingredient preparation, cooking and baking, to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of finished product.
  • Ensure all product is prepared according to standardized recipes and quality standards, monitoring portion control, temperature, and presentation.
  • Constantly striving for excellence, ensuring the kitchen team supports the store teams with consistently great quality product every single day.
  • Assist the Kitchen Manager by supervising, training, mentoring, and motivating kitchen staff and new hires, manage staff schedules and rotas, and assist with performance evaluations and disciplinary meetings.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience working within high-volume food production or kitchen.
  • Experience supervisory/management within a food business.
  • Food Level Qualification – Level 2 or equivalent.

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong coaching skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a team.
  • Passionate about delivering consistently great quality food every single day.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
