We’re looking for a Director of Operations to join a fast-paced, direct-to-consumer business set to double in size over the next five years. Reporting directly to the C-suite, this newly created role will lead and develop a large, multi-site operational team while driving the delivery of key strategic initiatives. As a pivotal member of the leadership team, you’ll play a central role in building the operational foundations for the company’s next stage of growth and ensuring its continued success. This person can be based anywhere but needs to be able travel to the sites across the UK (North, Midlands, South) and to the head office when required.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead high-performing operational teams across fulfilment centres, fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Shape and execute the operational strategy, inspiring and guiding the team through every stage of growth.
  • Deliver world-class results across key KPIs — including cost efficiency, customer lead times, and order accuracy — setting ambitious targets and holding the team to exceptional standards.
  • Champion business continuity and operational resilience, ensuring the team can adapt effectively to change or disruption.
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives across fulfilment sites, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, optimise systems, and reduce costs.
  • Oversee relationships with third-party partners, including automation providers, ensuring seamless integration and high performance.
  • Lead the planning and scaling of resilient fulfilment operations.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in technology, product, finance, and commercial to deliver aligned, scalable operational solutions.
  • Ensure all operational processes uphold the highest standards of clinical governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Represent frontline teams and customers, ensuring strategic decisions reflect real-world operational impact.

Requirements

  • A seasoned operations leader with deep expertise in e-commerce logistics, ideally within pick-pack-ship environments.
  • Technically adept and forward-thinking, with strong knowledge of warehouse automation and technology integration.
  • Commercially minded, with proven success in budget management and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experienced in scaling operational teams and distribution networks in e-commerce, retail, or consumer healthcare.
  • Skilled in end-to-end supply chain management, including import processes and automation.
  • Collaborative, with experience partnering across technology, product, and other business teams to drive operational excellence in fast-paced environments.
  • Proven P&L ownership and a track record of delivering commercial success.
