Nursery Lunch Time Cover

We are supporting a well‑established nursery in Solihull to recruit enthusiastic, reliable Level 2 & Level 3 Nursery Lunchtime Covers and join their team in providing high‑quality care and maintaining a nurturing environment for our children during peak daytime hours.

Hours of work: 11:00 am – 2:30 pm, Monday – Friday, all year round.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meal Supervision – Help serve food and drinks, support children with self‑help skills such as using cutlery, and encourage good table manners.
• Staff Cover – Step into rooms (Baby, Toddler, or Pre‑School) to maintain statutory staff‑to‑child ratios while permanent team members are on break.
• Activity Support – Set up engaging, play‑based activities and lead quiet storytelling or indoor/outdoor play sessions after lunchtime.
• Hygiene & Safety – Maintain high standards of cleanliness by cleaning tables, clearing away meals, managing food hygiene guidelines, and following strict safeguarding procedures.

What We Are Looking For:

• Qualifications – Level 2 or Level 3 Early Years qualification or relevant qualification.
• Experience – Previous experience working with children aged 0–5 is highly desirable.
• Core Skills – Excellent communication skills, a positive can‑do attitude, reliability, and strong teamwork skills.
• Essential Training – Holding or willingness to undergo training for Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding, and Basic Food Hygiene.
• Background Check – A clean, enhanced background check via the Disclosure and Barring Service is required.
• DBS – An enhanced DBS certificate is mandatory. If you do not have one, Supply Star Recruitment can support you in obtaining one at a cost of £63.
