Supply Star Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a School in Northamptonshire who require a Mechanics Instructor to join their team.

You will initially be required to work through Supply Star Recruitment on a probationary period, however on successful completion of this period you will be offered a permanent contract.

The school specifically support learners with Mental Health Needs and ideally would like to appoint someone with the relevant knowledge of Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons in mechanics.
  • Teach topics such as engine systems, vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, hydraulics, and safety procedures.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintain workshop equipment and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and improve teaching practices.
  • Stay up to date with industry developments and integrate them into your teaching.

Requirements

  • A relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • A Level 3 qualification or higher in Mechanics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Industry experience in mechanics or automotive technology.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Passion for teaching and mentoring students.

Desirable

  • Previous teaching or training experience.
  • Familiarity with current vocational qualifications (e.g. BTEC, City & Guilds).
  • Health & Safety certification (e.g. COSHH, First Aid).

You must have a clear DBS certificate to be considered for this role. If you do not have one Supply Star Recruitment can support you in obtaining one at a cost of 63.
