Supply Staff is partnering with a highly regarded secondary school in Southwest Hertfordshire to secure an experienced, dedicated Food Technology Teacher for a full-time, long-term placement. This position offers a stable, 5-day-a-week timetable starting in September 2026. As a Food Technology Teacher at this school, you will take ownership of a busy practical timetable, inspiring young people to develop essential cooking skills, kitchen safety habits, and nutritional knowledge. Due to the demands of a full, immediate timetable and exam preparation responsibilities, the school requires an experienced educator. Please note that this role is not suitable for ECTs (Early Career Teachers).
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging practical and theoretical food lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Management of classroom kitchen environments, ensuring strict health, safety, and hygiene standards are maintained.
- Assess, track, and monitor student progress to support academic achievement and exam preparation.
- Function as an integrated Food Technology Teacher within the wider department, participating in meetings and resource sharing.
- Manage student behavior effectively to foster a safe, productive, and collaborative learning environment.
Requirements:
- Must hold UK QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS.
- A relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent).
- Proven experience managing a full secondary timetable in the UK (Not suitable for ECTs).
- Exceptional classroom management, organization, and communication skills.
- A current, enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
