Job Title: 1 to 1 Teaching Assistant Location: Taunton, Somerset Job Type: Full-Time Long Term (5 days a week) Contract: Full-Time until Christmas 1 to 1 Teaching Assistant Supply Staff Ltd are currently recruiting for an experienced 1 to 1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil in a primary school in Taunton, Somerset on a full-time basis until Christmas. The pupil has a diagnosis of ASD and responds well to visual prompts, clear routines, processing time, sensory breaks and a calm, consistent approach. The successful 1 to 1 Teaching Assistant will provide dedicated support throughout the school day, helping the pupil to access learning and feel settled within the classroom environment. The Ideal Candidate: Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role Experience supporting pupils with ASD Experience supporting emotional regulation is required Experience using visual timetables, visual supports and social stories Knowledge of sensory regulation approaches Experience with communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton would be beneficial Calm, patient and consistent approach Able to provide processing time and use clear, structured routines Confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis The Role: This 1 to 1 Teaching Assistant position would suit someone with strong experience supporting pupils with additional needs who can provide consistent, individualised support throughout the school day. Experience with sensory based approaches and communication strategies would be highly beneficial.
