We are looking for a compassionate, resilient, and highly experienced Severe SEN Tutor to provide specialist one-to-one support for students with complex additional needs in their homes. This role is suited to someone with a strong background in supporting children and young people with severe learning difficulties and complex behavioural, communication, or sensory needs.
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised and engaging one-to-one sessions tailored to each student's individual needs and abilities.
- Support students with severe and complex SEN, including ASD, PMLD, SLD, SEMH, ADHD, non-verbal communication needs, and challenging behaviours.
- Work in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), implementing targets and specialist strategies.
- Adapt teaching methods, communication styles, and resources to meet sensory and emotional needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and families.
- Encourage engagement, confidence, independence, and emotional regulation.
- Provide progress updates and session feedback where required.
- Deliver face-to-face support within students' homes.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years' experience working with children or young people with severe or complex SEN.
- Experience supporting students with EHCPs is essential.
- Strong understanding of behaviour management, emotional regulation, and differentiated learning approaches.
- Confident managing challenging behaviours and working independently.
- Comfortable working in home environments on a one-to-one basis.
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport preferred.
- Flexible availability during school hours.
- Minimum commitment of 10 hours per week.
Desirable Qualifications
- PGCE and/or QTS.
- Team Teach, MAPA, or other behaviour support training.
- SEN specialist qualifications or relevant therapeutic training.
- Experience working within specialist schools, alternative provisions, or outreach services.

- £25-£40 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Flexible hours available; sessions primarily delivered during school hours.
