Job Overview
Supply Staff Ltd is seeking experienced and reliable Primary Cover Teachers to work across primary schools in Somerset.
As a Primary Cover Teacher, you will provide day-to-day and short-term classroom cover, including sickness cover and last-minute staff absence.
You will be expected to confidently manage a classroom, follow existing lesson plans and ensure pupils remain engaged and well behaved.
Strong classroom and behaviour management skills are essential.
QTS or previous teaching qualifications would be an advantage but are not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom cover across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
- Cover lessons on a day-to-day or short-term basis, including sickness cover.
- Follow existing lesson plans and school guidance.
- Maintain strong classroom management and positive behaviour.
- Keep pupils engaged and focused throughout lessons.
- Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs where required.
- Work effectively with teachers and school staff to maintain continuity of learning.
Requirements
- Strong previous experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
- Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills.
- Confident working independently and taking responsibility for a classroom.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience supporting pupils with SEN or additional needs would be ideal.
- QTS, teaching qualifications or other relevant education experience would be an advantage but are not essential.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
