Job Overview
Supply Staff Ltd is seeking experienced and dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools in Somerset.
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide individual support to pupils with special educational needs, helping them access learning, develop independence and build positive relationships within the school environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with SEN and additional needs.
- Support pupils to access and engage with classroom learning.
- Assist with individual learning activities and differentiated work.
- Support communication, social development, confidence and independence.
- Help manage behaviour using appropriate strategies and school guidance.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to support individual pupil needs.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school or educational setting is required.
- Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of individual learning needs and appropriate support strategies.
- Patient, calm and consistent approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Able to adapt support to meet individual pupil needs.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.
- Commitment to safeguarding and child protection.
