Pay: Β£93 per day
Hours: Monday to Friday 08:30 - 15:30 (Term time only)

We are seeking a caring and dedicated Learning Mentor to support pupils' emotional wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, and engagement with learning. The successful candidate will work closely with children, staff, and families to help remove barriers to education and enable every pupil to reach their full potential. Previous experience working with children and strong relationship-building skills are essential. Experience supporting pupils with ALN/SEN or SEMH needs would be desirable.

Overview of the role

To support pupils' social, emotional, behavioural, and academic development, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. The Learning Mentor will work closely with pupils, teachers, parents/carers, and external agencies to promote wellbeing, engagement, attendance, and positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring sessions to pupils requiring additional support.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence, resilience, and self-esteem.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional, mental health (SEMH), behavioural, or attendance needs.
  • Work alongside teachers to identify barriers to learning and develop suitable intervention strategies.
  • Monitor and track pupil progress, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Support behaviour management and encourage positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Liaise with parents/carers to support pupil wellbeing and engagement both at home and in school.
  • Assist with transition support for pupils moving between year groups or schools.
  • Work collaboratively with safeguarding leads, SENCOs, external agencies, and other professionals where required.
  • Promote inclusion and ensure all pupils have equal opportunities to succeed.
  • Contribute to the school's pastoral support and wellbeing initiatives.

Essential Requirements

  • DBS Certificate Registered onto the Update Service (Child Only Workforce or Child & Adult Workforce)
  • Registration with the EWC
  • 2 professional based references
  • The right to work within the UK
  • Over the age of 18
