A warm and inclusive Welsh Medium primary school in Cardiff is looking for a Reception Class Teaching Assistant to join their Foundation Phase team. The school has a strong sense of community, a supportive senior leadership team, and a genuine commitment to play-based learning in line with the Curriculum for Wales.
The role
- You'll work alongside the Reception class teacher to support a busy, happy classroom of 4 and 5 year olds. Day to day, that means:
- Supporting children in small groups and 1:1, both indoors and in the outdoor learning area
- Helping deliver phonics, early numeracy and literacy interventions
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs (ALN), including personal care where required
- Preparing resources and helping maintain a stimulating, well-organised learning environment
- Encouraging independence, positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Supervising at break and lunchtime as part of the wider school team
We're looking for someone who
- Has experience working with Foundation Phase / Early Years children (school, nursery or childcare setting)
- Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant / Childcare qualification (or is working towards one)
- Is registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC), or willing to register
- Has an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or is happy to apply for one
- Is patient, proactive and genuinely enjoys working with young children
- Welsh language skills are desirable but not essential
