A lovely, welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated Year 5 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil for the full academic year.

About the Pupil

The pupil is a bright, verbal and engaging child who enjoys attending school and building positive relationships with adults and peers. They particularly enjoy:

  • Talking about their ambition of becoming a Fire Fighter when they are older

No personal care is involved in this role.

The school is looking for someone who can build a positive and trusting relationship, provide encouragement throughout the school day and help the pupil remain engaged with their learning.

The Role

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will

  • Support the pupil throughout the school day.
  • Encourage participation in lessons and learning activities.
  • Help maintain focus and engagement within the classroom.
  • Liaise effectively with the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Foster independence, confidence and self-esteem.
  • Support the pupil's social and emotional development.
  • Promote inclusion and positive interactions with peers.
  • Assist with implementing any strategies recommended by the school's SEN team.

The successful candidate will

  • Have previous experience working with children in a school setting.
  • Be patient, nurturing and approachable.
  • Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be able to build positive relationships quickly.
  • Have a genuine passion for supporting children's development.
  • Be reliable, committed and able to work full-time for the entire academic year.
  • Have experience supporting pupils with additional needs (desirable but not essential).
