A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Birmingham is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. For this position you will need the following qualification along with relevant school experience: NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning. This is a full-time, long-term position with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

About the Role

As a Level 3 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will work closely with class teachers to support pupils’ academic progress, wellbeing and development, providing both classroom support and targeted interventions. You may be required to support pupils on a one-to-one basis, as well as small groups, including those with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of engaging and effective lessons across the primary age range
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support progress in English and Maths
  • Assist with classroom preparation and resource organisation
  • Support pupils with additional needs, including SEND where required
  • Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe learning environment
  • Contribute to assessment and tracking of pupil progress

Essential Requirements

  • NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent Level 3 TA qualification)
  • Previous experience working in a primary school setting
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • A positive, proactive and flexible approach

Desirable

  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Experience delivering intervention programmes
  • Knowledge of phonics schemes and early literacy support
