Supply Heroes are currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient KS2 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Great Barr. This role will involve working closely with pupils across Key Stage 2, providing targeted support to help them access learning and develop both academically and socially. The position is primarily based in Year 3 during the mornings and Year 5 in the afternoons, supporting pupils with additional needs. The Year 5 cohort can present challenging behaviour, so we are seeking a confident and proactive individual who is comfortable managing behaviour positively and maintaining a structured learning environment.

About the Role

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs
  • Supporting learning in Year 3 in the mornings and Year 5 in the afternoons
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery and classroom management
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies and supporting pupils with emotional regulation
  • Encouraging pupil engagement, independence, and positive behaviour
  • Supporting the social and academic development of pupils
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other support staff
  • Maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment in line with safeguarding policies

The Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience working with children in a primary or SEN setting
  • Is confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
  • Demonstrates patience, resilience, and strong communication skills
  • Is proactive, reliable, and able to follow behaviour support plans
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Understands safeguarding responsibilities and promotes pupil wellbeing
