Overview

Are you a caring, patient and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding part-time role within a welcoming primary school?

We are currently recruiting for a Year 4 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a non-verbal pupil working academically at a Reception level. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to a child’s educational journey within a supportive and nurturing school environment.

The position is based within a Good-rated primary school that prides itself on its inclusive ethos, strong leadership and supportive staff team.

Role

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with additional needs.
  • Support a non-verbal child with learning activities and daily routines.
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs and abilities.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support staff.
  • Promote independence, engagement, and positive learning experiences.
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

Working Pattern

  • Monday – Full Day
  • Tuesday – Full Day
  • Wednesday – Morning Only
  • 2.5 days per week
  • September 2026 start
  • Long-term position for the full academic year

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working with children with SEND, either in a school, nursery or care setting.
  • Experience supporting pupils with communication difficulties or non-verbal learners is highly desirable.
  • Patient, compassionate and able to build positive relationships with children.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt learning activities to support individual needs.
  • A genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential.
