You will guide pupils through an important transition year, helping them adapt to the demands of Key Stage 2 while developing confidence, independence, and resilience in their learning.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated Year 3 lessons in line with the KS2 national curriculum
- Support pupils’ continued development in reading, writing, maths, and SPaG
- Help pupils transition effectively from KS1 to KS2 learning styles and expectations
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
- Support children with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
- Promote pupils’ confidence, independence, and resilience
- Build strong partnerships with parents, carers, and colleagues
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Lower KS2 or Year 3
- Strong understanding of KS2 curriculum expectations
- Ability to support pupils transitioning from KS1 to KS2
- Excellent classroom management and organisational skills
- Engaging, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work full-time in the Bourne End area from September
- Previous experience teaching Year 3
- Strong understanding of progression from KS1 to KS2
- Experience using assessment data to track and accelerate pupil progress
- Experience supporting children with SEN
- Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
