The Role

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
• Support the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging and accessible learning activities.
• Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that meets the individual needs of every pupil.
• Adapt learning resources and activities to support pupils with different abilities and learning needs.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and wider support team.
• Support pupils with their social, emotional, communication, and behavioural development.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, parents, carers, and colleagues.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for pupils.
• Contribute to the wider school community through enrichment activities and school events.
• Uphold high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience working with children or young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
• Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant, Childcare, Education, or other appropriate qualification or has relevant experience.
• Demonstrates excellent communication, teamwork, and classroom support skills.
• Has a good understanding of SEND and the different barriers that can affect learning.
• Is patient, caring, resilient, and committed to supporting children to reach their full potential.
• Has the ability to build positive relationships and adapt their approach to meet individual pupil needs.
• Promotes inclusive teaching practices and supports the needs of every child.
• Has a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
