We are seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher to join our team at a school located in Waddesdon, supporting students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). As a PMLD Teacher, you will be instrumental in fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for students with complex needs. You will collaborate with a range of staff to deliver personalised and effective learning experiences tailored to the individual needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) specific to students with PMLD, ensuring clear, achievable educational goals.
  • Provide engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the varied learning styles and needs of students with PMLD.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to offer integrated support and ensure a holistic approach to education.
  • Regularly assess and track the progress of students, adapting teaching methods where necessary to support their development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates on student progress and collaborating on strategies for ongoing support.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes acceptance, empathy, and positive interactions amongst all students.
  • Stay current with trends in special education and attend relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Use appropriate behaviour management techniques to maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment, particularly for students with challenging behaviours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Teaching certification in Special Education.
  • Proven experience working with students with PMLD or similar learning disabilities.
  • A strong understanding of PMLD, developmental disorders, and strategies for supporting students with complex needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
  • Passion for creating a positive impact on the lives of students with special educational needs.
