This is a rewarding opportunity to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where children can develop confidence, independence, and a love of learning through play.

The Role

You will use a play-based approach to encourage curiosity, communication, and social development while adapting teaching strategies to ensure every child can achieve their full potential.

Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, families, and the wider school team, you will provide a nurturing and supportive environment where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to succeed.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is energetic, enthusiastic, and passionate about working with young children with additional needs.
  • Has a caring, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting every child's individual journey.
  • Creates engaging and interactive learning experiences through play.
  • Builds positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Is committed to promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for all learners.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Essential Experience

  • SEN School or Specialist Provision
  • Teaching Assistant (TA) experience within an SEN setting
  • Mainstream school experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)

What You'll Bring

You’ll understand that every child learns differently and will be committed to providing high-quality, personalised support through engaging, hands-on learning experiences. You’ll be creative, adaptable, and dedicated to helping children build confidence, develop independence, and celebrate every achievement—no matter how small.
