Supply Desk is working in partnership with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Thame, seeking a nurturing and enthusiastic Reception Teacher to join their team on a part‑time basis from September 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference at the very start of a child's school journey.
The Role
The Reception year is a vital bridge between early development and formal learning. This role focuses on creating a warm, structured, and engaging environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. You will be responsible for:
- Creating a stimulating, play‑based learning environment aligned with the EYFS framework
- Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development
- Encouraging early communication, independence, and positive learning behaviours
- Observing, assessing, and tracking progress to meet individual needs
- Working collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and carers to support each child’s journey
The Ideal Candidate
You understand that Reception is about more than lessons; it’s about building confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning. You will ideally:
- Have experience teaching Reception or EYFS, or a strong understanding of the EYFS curriculum
- Hold QTS (unqualified teachers with relevant experience are also welcome to apply)
- Be patient, creative, and engaging
- Demonstrate strong classroom management with a nurturing approach
- Enjoy working as part of a supportive team and adapting to pupils' needs
