Key Responsibilities
- Curriculum Development and Planning
- Plan and deliver engaging, creative lessons aligned with the Key Stage 1 National Curriculum.
- Develop inclusive lesson plans that accommodate diverse abilities and learning styles.
- Create a stimulating classroom environment that supports early learning and development.
- Classroom Teaching
- Deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stage 1.
- Support pupils in developing essential skills in phonics, reading, writing, and mathematics.
- Encourage curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
- Employ a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage and motivate pupils.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom atmosphere.
- Assessment and Progress Tracking
- Assess pupil progress using both formative and summative assessment methods.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback to support pupil development.
- Maintain accurate records of attainment and progress in accordance with school policies.
- Differentiation and Individualised Support
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and higher-attaining pupils.
- Collaborate closely with teaching assistants to deliver targeted interventions where necessary.
- Ensure all pupils receive appropriate support and challenge.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Build positive relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed about pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and senior leaders.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events, including parents’ evenings.
- Professional Development
- Stay informed about developments in primary education and Key Stage 1 best practises.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching skills and subject knowledge.
The Ideal Candidate
- A degree in Education or a relevant subject (a Master’s degree is desirable).
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience teaching within Key Stage 1 or Early Years settings.
- Strong understanding of the KS1 curriculum, particularly phonics and early literacy.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A genuine passion for primary education and for creating an engaging, inclusive classroom environment.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
