Complex Needs Support Assistant

Location: Specialist School in the New Forest

Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (with potential to become permanent)

Pay: £82-£95 per day

Start Date: March 2026

Must have a Driving License and access to a car.

A well-regarded, specialist school and children’s home is looking for Teaching Assistants and Support Workers to work with children from the ages of 11-18 with Autism and other neurodivergent needs. This is a shift role which may involve evening work to support children residing at the school.

About the School

The school is a Specialist school for Secondary Children with Autism. The school is situated on beautiful grounds with plenty of opportunity for outdoor exploration and learning. Children feel safe and secure at this school and enjoy small class sizes and expert teaching.

The Role

This role involves supporting pupils with complex needs, including those with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and other learning or developmental challenges. You’ll work both one-to-one and within the classroom, helping children access learning. Being a good communicator with teachers and other support staff is key.

  • Have experience supporting children with complex needs
  • Are confident working within a classroom setting
  • Can work effectively as part of a team
  • Are patient, adaptable and responsive to individual pupil needs
  • Hold a relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2 desirable but not essential)
