We are seeking a dedicated and experienced teacher to join our team at a school located in Aylesbury, supporting students with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). As a PMLD Teacher, you will be instrumental in fostering a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for students with complex needs. You will collaborate with a range of staff to deliver personalised and effective learning experiences tailored to the individual needs of each student.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) specific to students with PMLD, ensuring clear, achievable educational goals

Provide engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the varied learning styles and needs of students with PMLD

Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to offer integrated support and ensure a holistic approach to education

Regularly assess and track the progress of students, adapting teaching methods where necessary to support their development

Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, providing updates on student progress and collaborating on strategies for ongoing support

Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes acceptance, empathy, and positive interactions amongst all students

Stay current with trends in special education and attend relevant professional development opportunities

Use appropriate behaviour management techniques to maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment, particularly for students with challenging behaviours
Requirements

Bachelor s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master\’s preferred)

Teaching certification in Special Education

Proven experience working with students with PMLD or similar learning disabilities

A strong understanding of PMLD, developmental disorders, and strategies for supporting students with complex needs

Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students

Passion for creating a positive impact on the lives of students with special educational needs
