We are looking for a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our team at a leading school in Milton Keynes. The successful candidate will support students with a range of special educational needs, including but not limited to learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, and other developmental challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student, setting clear and achievable learning goals.
- Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons to meet a wide range of learning styles, abilities, and needs, including students with SEMH challenges.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to provide holistic support for students, ensuring their emotional, social, and academic development.
- Regularly assess students' progress, adapting teaching methods and materials to ensure continued growth and engagement.
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, providing updates on progress and working together to implement strategies for success and emotional well-being.
- Promote an inclusive classroom environment, fostering acceptance, empathy, respect, and positive behaviour for all students, especially those with SEMH needs.
- Apply positive behaviour management techniques to create a safe, supportive, and respectful learning environment where students feel secure and valued.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay informed about current best practices in SEN education, including approaches to supporting students with SEMH needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching certification in Special Education (or equivalent).
- Proven experience working with students with SEN, especially those with SEMH needs, learning disabilities, and other developmental challenges.
- Strong understanding of special educational needs, including knowledge of SEMH strategies and approaches.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- A passion for supporting children with special educational needs and helping them achieve their full potential, both academically and socially.
