Pay: £168.80 £270.98 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 8:00am 4:00pm
Contract Type: Full Time
Start Date: ASAP until July 19th 2026

About the Setting

This specialist SEN secondary school supports pupils aged with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, alongside Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, and additional communication and learning needs. Many pupils have experienced disruption to their education and benefit from a highly structured, trauma-informed approach delivered by a dedicated and understanding staff team.

Class sizes are small, support is strong, and the focus is on re-engaging learners through personalised pathways that build confidence, curiosity, and resilience.

The Role

As a Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging and practical Science lessons across KS3 and KS4, adapted to meet a wide range of learning needs and abilities. You will play a key role in helping students reconnect with learning, develop scientific thinking, and experience success in the classroom.

This full-time role starts ASAP and has the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver differentiated Science lessons that meet individual SEN needs
  • Create a calm, safe, and predictable learning environment
  • Build positive relationships that support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, and therapists
  • Support pupils academic progress, wellbeing, and personal development
  • Use flexible and creative approaches to learning, including practical and real-world science

What We re Looking For

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
  • Experience working with SEN pupils (SEMH and/or ASC preferred, but not essential)
  • A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to behaviour and learning
  • Strong classroom management rooted in consistency and understanding
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
