Are you a reliable, proactive, and hardworking School Caretaker looking to play a vital role in maintaining a safe and welcoming school environment? Supply Desk is recruiting on behalf of a friendly and well-maintained school in Watford seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join their site team. This is an excellent opportunity to become an important member of the school community, ensuring the premises are safe, secure, clean, and well-maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors. You will be responsible for carrying out day-to-day maintenance tasks, assisting with health and safety procedures, and helping to ensure the school operates smoothly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Open and secure the school buildings each day, ensuring the site remains safe and secure at all times.
- Carry out routine maintenance, basic repairs, and general DIY tasks across the school site.
- Ensure classrooms, communal areas, and outdoor spaces are clean, safe, and well-presented.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks, reporting and addressing maintenance issues where appropriate.
- Assist with setting up rooms, furniture, and equipment for school events and activities.
- Monitor contractors working on site and ensure compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Support the management of site security, including alarm systems, gates, and access control where required.
- Maintain school grounds and outdoor areas to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a caretaking, facilities, maintenance, or site management role is desirable.
- Good practical maintenance and DIY skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures within a school or similar environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- A reliable, flexible, and proactive approach with excellent communication skills.
