About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Religious Education Teacher to join our Humanities faculty in Southampton. The successful candidate will inspire students through engaging lessons that encourage reflection, understanding, and respect for different beliefs and values. You will deliver high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to contribute to A Level or Sixth Form teaching if suitably experienced.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver well-structured, thought-provoking lessons in line with the school\’s RE curriculum and national requirements.
  • Foster a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, respect, and open-minded discussion of philosophical, ethical, and moral issues.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Contribute to the development of schemes of work, assessments, and departmental resources.
  • Support the school\’s ethos and values by promoting spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, training, and wider school activities such as assemblies, trips, or enrichment events.
  • Maintain high expectations of behaviour, achievement, and effort among all learners.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, or a related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for teaching RE.
  • Ability to deliver inclusive lessons that engage students of all abilities and backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

Desirable:

  • Experience teaching RE at GCSE or A Level.
  • Familiarity with current educational research and innovative teaching methods.
  • Commitment to professional development and contributing to a collaborative team environment.
