Supply Desk is working in partnership with a specialist school in Burnham to recruit a compassionate and reliable PMLD Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and additional complex needs, helping them access education in a safe, supportive, and structured environment.
The Role
- As a PMLD Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide tailored support to pupils with complex learning, physical, and communication needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with PMLD
- Assisting with personal care routines in line with care plans and safeguarding procedures
- Supporting pupils with sensory activities, communication systems, and therapeutic programmes
- Promoting engagement, independence, and emotional wellbeing
- Supporting the delivery of structured learning activities
- Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
- Ensuring a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment at all times
Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or complex needs (school, care, or SEND setting)
- A patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Confidence supporting personal care and medical needs where required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil wellbeing
- Availability to start immediately
- Ability to travel to Burnham
