We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Care Assistant to join a specialist educational facility near Lymington. This full‑time role offers a rewarding opportunity to support students with autism and Asperger’s, helping them thrive in a structured and nurturing environment. The role requires 12‑hour shifts at a residential home on the site of the school.

About the School: The school provides a supportive learning environment for students aged 11 to 19 with autism and ADHD. With a small student population of around 50, the school focuses on individualised care and education. The school has a dedicated team that collaborates closely to ensure students receive tailored support that promotes their independence, well‑being, and educational development. The school also offers free on‑site parking and a residential unit for some children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised care for those with Autism including managing emotions.
  • Support students with daily routines, including homework, transporting children to activities and supervising wake up and bedtime routines.
  • Assist students in engaging with educational and social activities.
  • Ensure a safe and comfortable environment tailored to students’ sensory and emotional needs.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and therapists to implement individualized learning and care plans.
  • Maintain accurate records and report concerns to the appropriate staff members.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a care assistant or similar role, preferably within an educational or healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of autism, ADHD and associated sensory and behavioural needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach to working with students.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and confidentiality practices.
  • An enhanced DBS check (we can assist with this process if required).
