Supply Desk are a nationwide education recruitment company specialising in Primary, SEND, and Secondary education. We place teaching staff in day-to-day and long-term placements across Primary and Secondary schools throughout Brighton & Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex.
We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant / 1:1 Support Assistant to support schools across Peacehaven. Applications are warmly welcomed from experienced teaching assistants as well as individuals looking to begin a career in education.
About the Role
Are you passionate about making a positive difference in a child's educational journey? We are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant / 1:1 Support Assistant to provide dedicated support for pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential. This rewarding role involves working closely with individual pupils who may have additional needs such as Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or other learning difficulties. You will play a key role in supporting both their academic progress and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and wellbeing.
- Adapt learning activities and resources to meet individual needs.
- Support pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Encourage independence and confidence within the classroom environment.
- Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Record and report pupil progress where required.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or young people (school-based experience desirable but not essential).
- Experience supporting individuals with SEN is advantageous.
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility, reliability, and a proactive attitude.
- A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
