About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, creative Class Teacher to lead a small class of pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties. You will work closely with a team of LSAs, therapists, and senior leaders to deliver a curriculum tailored to individual developmental stages.
Key Details:
- Full-time teaching role within a specialist primary environment
- Small class sizes with high staff-to-pupil ratios
- All pupils have EHCPs with a range of needs including autism, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing differences, and associated physical or emotional needs
- Clear routines and strong behaviour support systems in place
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons
- Lead a class team of LSAs, ensuring consistent support for pupils
- Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of learning, sensory, and communication needs
- Work closely with families, therapists, and external agencies
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to EHCP reviews
- Uphold safeguarding and behaviour support procedures
- Foster a positive, calm, and structured learning environment
Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent)
- Experience teaching pupils with SEND (special school experience beneficial but not essential)
- Strong understanding of early developmental learning
- Confident using visual supports, sensory strategies, and communication systems
- Patient, resilient, and committed to pupil wellbeing
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to undertake specialist training
