We are supporting a specialist primary SEND provision in the Southampton area (close to Shirley) to recruit a committed Behaviour Support Assistant. This setting supports pupils aged 4–11 with complex learning needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and behaviours that may challenge.

The Role
- Provide behaviour and learning support within small, specialist classes.
- Work closely with teachers and senior staff to implement behaviour plans and regulation strategies.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, and engagement in learning.
- Contribute to a positive, resilient team culture where staff wellbeing is prioritised.
- Opportunity to train as a Securicare Physical Intervention practitioner (training provided).
- Liaise with external professionals and contribute to behaviour reviews and planning.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience supporting children with SEND or behaviour needs (school, care, or community settings).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A reflective, resilient approach and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
- GCSE/Level 4+ in English and Maths (or equivalent).
- Understanding of positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies.
