Supply Desk are currently seeking an enthusiastic, caring and patient SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs within a welcoming and inclusive school in the Harrow area. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, SENCOs and support staff to help pupils access learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and creating a positive, nurturing learning environment where every pupil can thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Provide tailored support on a 1:1 basis and within small groups as required
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation and social development
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress and wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, parents/carers and external professionals
  • Adapt support strategies to meet individual pupil needs
  • Encourage independence, confidence and participation in learning
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment

Role Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (preferred)
  • Understanding of a range of SEN needs and effective support strategies
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Positive behaviour management skills
  • Passion for education and supporting young people
  • Knowledge of safeguarding
  • Primary or secondary school experience (desirable)
