A supportive and inclusive school in Milton Keynes is looking for a Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant to start in September 2025. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including those with autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or other complex needs. You will be working closely with teaching staff and the SENCO to ensure every pupil receives the tailored support they need to thrive both academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN, ensuring their individual learning and care needs are met.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that support a range of learning styles and needs.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) targets.
  • Support pupils in building communication, social interaction, and life skills through structured interventions.
  • Help maintain a calm, structured, and positive learning environment that promotes progress and confidence.
  • Provide personal care where required, with dignity and sensitivity.
  • Monitor pupil progress and behaviour, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and contributing to reviews.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, and the wider school community.
  • Follow safeguarding and behaviour management policies consistently and effectively.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting pupils with a range of SEN in a school or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of autism strategies, sensory processing needs, or communication tools (e.g. PECS, Makaton) is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting pupils with additional needs.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to pupil welfare.
