Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Development and Planning
Design and deliver an engaging Humanities curriculum that adheres to national standards.
Plan lessons that are inclusive and tailored to the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.
Classroom Teaching
Provide high-quality, interactive Humanities lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Teach a broad range of topics within the Humanities field, including History, Geography, and potentially Religious Education or Politics depending on departmental needs.
Utilise a variety of teaching methods, technology, and resources to enrich the learning experience.
Create and maintain a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active student participation.
Assessment and Progress Tracking
Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative assessments.
Offer constructive feedback to support student growth and development.
Keep accurate records of student progress, grades, and achievements.
Differentiation and Individualised Support
Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of students at different ability levels.
Provide additional support or challenge to help all students achieve their personal best.
Communication and Collaboration
Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and key updates.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues across departments and participate in parent‑teacher meetings.
Professional Development
Stay current with the latest developments in Humanities education.
Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance subject knowledge and teaching practice.
The Ideal Candidate
A degree in Education, Humanities, or a related field (Master’s degree desirable).
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialisation in Humanities for secondary education.
Proven experience teaching Humanities at secondary level, with expertise in History, Geography, or other Humanities subjects.
A strong understanding of historical and geographical topics, and strong awareness of global issues.
Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
A passion for teaching and creating a positive, challenging, and inclusive learning environment.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
