Key Responsibilities
β€’ Lead and manage the Humanities department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages.
β€’ Develop and deliver an engaging, ambitious, and inclusive Humanities curriculum.
β€’ Monitor student progress and attainment, using data to drive improvements and close achievement gaps.
β€’ Support, mentor, and develop members of the Humanities team through coaching and performance management.
β€’ Promote outstanding classroom practice and share best practice across the department.
β€’ Oversee curriculum planning, assessment, quality assurance, and departmental development plans.
β€’ Maintain high expectations for behaviour, attendance, and academic achievement.
β€’ Work closely with Senior Leadership to contribute to whole-school improvement priorities.
β€’ Lead and support enrichment activities, educational visits, and extracurricular opportunities.
β€’ Build strong relationships with students, parents, carers, and external stakeholders.
The Ideal Candidate
β€’ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
β€’ Significant experience teaching Humanities at secondary level.
β€’ Strong subject knowledge in History, Geography, Religious Studies, or another Humanities discipline.
β€’ Previous middle leadership experience or a proven ability to lead and inspire colleagues.
β€’ A track record of raising attainment and improving outcomes.
β€’ Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
