The Role
Religious Studies plays a vital role in helping students develop empathy, moral reasoning, and an understanding of the diverse world around them. As an RS Teacher, you will deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that encourage students to explore beliefs, ethics, and philosophical questions. You will:
- Teach Religious Studies across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
- Deliver engaging lessons covering world religions, ethics, and philosophy
- Encourage respectful debate, discussion, and critical reflection
- Plan, assess, and track pupil progress effectively
- Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment
- Work collaboratively within the humanities department and wider school team
Requirements
You don’t just teach Religious Studies; you inspire thoughtful conversation and understanding. You will ideally:
- Hold QTS, PGCE, ECT status, or an equivalent qualification
- Have experience teaching Religious Studies or Humanities at secondary level
- Be confident delivering engaging, balanced, and accessible lessons
- Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion, diversity, and pupil wellbeing
- Bring enthusiasm, flexibility, and strong classroom presence
- Unqualified teachers with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.
