A welcoming and supportive school in Hertford is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from February 2026. The school is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for pupils with a wide range of additional needs, ensuring every child is supported academically, socially, and emotionally.
About the Role:
This full-time, term-time position is ideal for someone who is caring, proactive, and passionate about SEN education. You will work closely with pupils, teachers, and the SEN team to support individual learning plans, encourage positive behaviour, and help remove barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with a range of SEN, including autism, learning difficulties, ADHD, and physical or sensory needs.
- Support pupils in following their personalised learning plans and achieving individual targets.
- Assist with adapting lessons and activities to ensure accessibility for all learners.
- Encourage positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals.
- Help maintain a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
- Contribute to progress monitoring, record keeping, and review meetings.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
- A calm, patient, and compassionate approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- A relevant Teaching Assistant or SEN qualification is advantageous, but not essential.
