A respected specialist school in Hertford is seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teacher to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis from February 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator dedicated to supporting students with autism, alongside associated needs such as speech and language difficulties, sensory processing differences, and behavioural regulation challenges.

You will be joining a nurturing, well-resourced setting with small class sizes and a strong staff-to-student ratio. Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with complex SEN, particularly autism and related needs.
  • Establish clear routines and use visual supports to enhance communication, engagement, and understanding.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, and families to provide coordinated, holistic support.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on pupil progress in line with EHCP outcomes and individual targets.
  • Implement evidence-based strategies to support emotional regulation, independence, and self-management.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment where pupils feel valued and supported.
  • Engage in CPD and contribute positively to the wider school community.
About You
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is desirable but not essential.
  • Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEN, ideally within a specialist or alternative provision.
  • Strong understanding of autism and associated developmental needs.
  • A patient, resilient, and nurturing teaching approach.
  • A confident communicator who works effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Holds, or is willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
