Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming specialist SEN school in Hemel Hempstead, seeking a compassionate and dedicated PMLD Teacher to join their team from September.

This rewarding opportunity involves teaching pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), alongside pupils with Autism (ASC/ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), complex medical needs and physical disabilities. Every learner follows a highly personalised curriculum designed to develop communication, independence, sensory engagement and life skills.

The Role

  • Plan and deliver highly personalised, sensory-based lessons tailored to each pupil's EHCP.
  • Support pupils with PMLD, Autism, SLD and complex medical or physical needs.
  • Create a safe, nurturing and stimulating learning environment.
  • Use sensory learning approaches, intensive interaction, visual communication and assistive technology to engage pupils.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, healthcare professionals and families.
  • Promote communication, independence, emotional wellbeing and life skills.
  • Monitor and celebrate individual progress through meaningful outcomes.
  • Support pupils with personal care where required, alongside experienced support staff.

About You

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Has experience working within a specialist SEN or PMLD setting, or a strong interest in developing within this area.
  • Has knowledge of Autism (ASC/ASD), PMLD, SLD and complex learning needs.
  • Is patient, caring and resilient with a child-centred approach.
  • Can adapt teaching to meet a wide range of physical, sensory and communication needs.
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Is committed to delivering outstanding outcomes for pupils with additional needs.
